hello

Geneviève Gauckler is a French visual artist and designer. Born in Lyon, France, in 1967, she graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris in 1991. She began her career in graphic design, creating album covers for artists such as Laurent Garnier, Saint Germain, and Étienne Daho. She also worked in publishing and later in animation with French directors Kuntzel and Deygas, and subsequently with the Pleix collective.

In 1999, she joined the start-up Boo in London, followed by the agency Me Company. Upon returning to France, she shifted her focus more toward illustration. It was through the creation of characters that she truly found her path: “They’re like self-portraits,” she says.

Geneviève Gauckler is known for her distinctive style, characterized by bold, bright colors, playful shapes, and a strong sense of humor. Her photographic collages and enigmatic black figures have appeared in numerous magazines and advertising campaigns. She has created work for a wide range of clients, including Bourjois, Coca-Cola, Orange, Adobe, Renault, Lane Crawford, and Longchamp.

She exhibits her work regularly in France, the UK, the Netherlands, and Japan, including a 2004 show at the Colette store in Paris. She now lives and works in Lyon, her hometown, where she continues to invent new characters and remains eager to explore new stylistic territories, such as screen printing, collage, and acrylic painting.
